At Tesco Broadstairs Extra, we are helping people who want to volunteer to get in touch with local charities and local organisations.

Wear It Yellow Day

On Friday 10 July, we will be supporting Thanet Pilgrims Hospice. Our staff will be wearing something yellow and Community Champion Dennis Hart will bathe in a bath of custard.

Beach Clean at Pegwell Bay

On Sunday 9 August, between 11.00am and 1.00pm, we will be helping the Thanet Coastal Project by holding a fammily fun day beach clean at Pegwell Bay, Ramsgate. See in store for details.

Supporting Local Charities and Organisations

Between 2008-2009 we donated £2,200 by way of raffle prizes and gifts to local charities and organisations. We helped worthy causes by sponsorship of £1,000. We visited schools for Healthy Eating talks and Reducing Our Carbon Footprint. Nearly 500 local children took part in the FA Tesco Football Skills initiative.

Whizz-Kidz - Broadstairs

Whizz-Kidz supports local disabled children and young people to live active and fun childhoods – by funding, and providing, mobility equipment, and through other opportunities such as wheelchair skills training, work placements and local ambassador groups.

British Red Cross - Broadstairs

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high-quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer or other ilnesses the choice of dying at home supported by their families.

School Governors (SGOSS) - Broadstairs

The School Governors' One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is a small, highly successful charity which recruits volunteers to become governors in schools across England. SGOSS has won awards for the way it works with volunteers, builds partnerships with employers, manages its finances, and develops its staff. Its services are FREE to Local Authorities, volunteers, employers and schools.

Pilgrims Hospice Thanet

Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing palliative care free of charge to people in east Kent.We care for patients with a range of life-limiting illnesses including cancer, heart failure, respiratory conditions and neurological diseases. Care is provided from the three sites in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, in patients' homes and via community programmes. Care is also extended to families and carers.

Demelza House Children's Hospice

Demelza is an organisation providing hospice care for over 570 children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London

Kent Air Ambulance Trust

The Kent Air Ambulance Trust is a registered charity established in 1989 to relieve sick and injured people in South East England and surrounding areas by providing a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and air ambulance service for the benefit of the community.

National Autistic Society - Thanet Branch

We work together as a friendly united team running a weekly social and support club called the Thanet Autistic Zone, TAZ for short. TAZ is a calm, safe and friendly environment whereby those suffering from an Autistic condition can enjoy and socialise with others without fear of being bullied or judged.
